• Everyone has got listening skills and it is very easy to write whatever you listen but then why the job of trancriptionist is needed? There is a simple answer to this which may be for a good and skilled output. Just to pen down what we hear is supposed to be an easy task but even for this appropriate skills are needed. The skills are not just to write anything but to handle the task with tenderness and care. Though this is a profession but still contribute to very big process.
• Any process of development is started from the roots and therefore in the treatment of a patient the transcript is the root which has to be properly taken care of for a fruitful result. A transcriptionist with right skill and education makes a lot of difference in writing work. Right education gives you perfection and right skills enhance the work.
• If any task needs to be done, it needs skilled and educated professional. The job of transcriptionist requires the same approach. Medical field needs good and efficient labor as this directly relates to people’s live.

• Hearing skills: as this work is fully related with hearing aid. It is necessary for a transcriptionist to have proper hearing skills. This job requires the need of interpersonal skills as well as corrects interpretation.
• Computer skills: the various other skills include computer skills of an individual. One should know the art of using headphones and foot pedal. He should also have a good typing speed with proper accuracy both in spelling and usage of words. Working on internet and with other software’s is also a necessity for a transcriptionist.
• Flexible: one should be very flexible in context of working hours and work load. It may be that the working hours have shifts and there is also a possibility that during some situations the work may increase due to any medical illness.
• Should know the medical terms: the transcriptionist should know the medical terms and language. Should be familiar with the terms of anatomy, healthcare, diseases and abnormalities. One should be very particular in keeping this knowledge up to date so that there is no problem related to the formatting of the session.
• Time management: this is one another important skill a transcriptionist needs to have for making a proper usage of time and working before the deadlines. Time management is an important skill in any profession but here it relates to the treatment of the sick and that is why it is so important.

• Besides the skills listed above a transcriptionist needs to be a good learner and keep himself up to date for any information which is related with his job.
• Education is also an important aspect of a transcriptionist which makes his task quite easy and quick. Though there is no prior education in this job but a person is expected to complete his high school before taking up the job. Should be good at the language he is dealing with and also go through the certification process from a registered medical trancriptionist. The person should be aware of working on different software. Although one may go through training procedure as per requirement of the company for a year which has the criteria of studying medical related courses.
